Simon Yorke Designs will celebrate 25 years of designing and building record players in September, 2009. Any suggestions as to how we should celebrate?

Spencer Yorke has completed his apprenticeship and is now responsible for production. He is also due to become a father early next year. Congratulations all round!

Simon Yorke Art – recent paintings – may now be viewed online at www.simonyorke.com

The S10 is now very much the mainstay of SYD’s production. It comes with the new S7.1 tonearm which permits quick changeover of arm beams (and thus cartridges).

Still to come …

The S10 linear arm will be released for sale when we are 100% happy with it. When? MaƱana!

A supporting stand for the S10 (or S9), and a dedicated stand for archival systems incorporating 19" rack mounting capability.

A compact Archival Motor System for sound archives who do not require all the facilities of our comprehensive PAT motion control system, or are constrained by more modest budgets.

Some S10’s and their new homes …

An S10 with dual 12" S7 tonearms is now in use at the National Library of Canada, sound archive facility.

The new Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, is apparently very happy with his special S10. We wish him well in his new appointment.

The S10 made its professional debut at the recent ARSC conference in San Francisco – coupled with Millennia’s LOC archival phono preamplifier – making live transfers of 78rpm shellac discs from Neil Young’s private collection. This unit is now at work at The Audio Archive in California.

The S10 made its public debut at the recent High End Show in Munich, Germany. We exhibited at the hi-fi deluxe show (not at the commercial cattlemarket which has become the main exhibition at MOC) alongside several other specialist manufacturers likewise seeking a return to the art of listening to music, not just ‘doing business’.

A warning about fraud:

Simon Yorke turntables are being offered via the Internet by bogus vendors – these appear to be nothing more than crude scams – using our good name to commit petty fraud. So, please, if you are considering buying a Simon Yorke turntable, whether offered as new or second hand, check beforehand with ourselves whether the unit in question is an authentic Simon Yorke, a useless fake, or a nonexistent unit (just an amateur scam to get you to part with your money). Be especially wary of turntables offered for sale in Indonesia (a country we do not supply).
